Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) refers to the process of contracting standard business functions to be handled by a third-party provider such as Genie Workforce.

An organisation typically contracts with another business for such services after it has identified a process that, although necessary for its operations, is not part of its core value proposition. It is globally proven that outsourcing such processes to a provider that specialises in them could deliver better results.

Organisations can engage in BPO for both back and front office functions.

Some organisations outsource an entire function, such as the HR department. Other companies outsource only specific processes within a functional area, such as only payroll processing, while having their own team perform all other HR processes.
